Nice touch, Harrogate
harrogate narrow-gauge prototypeSneaking around obscure back streets of Harrogate on Google Street View brought up this nice little image. Nestled in the curve of the gasworks railway route north of the bridge over Knox Lane, some of the roads in the modern housing estate bear the names of the line’s steam locos.
Spot “Old Barber”, “Spencer’s Way”, “Peckett’s Way” and a couple of other variations.
The abutments of the railway bridge still exist on Knox Lane, conveniently with a van parked alongside to measure it against. What a great research tool this is!
